I had no crew we had squirrels(sp) in Uganda.  I guess I grew up protected.  Grasshoppers I knew of, but not squirrels.  I remember catching grasshoppers and (decapitaing) removing their hind legs and feeding them grass just to watch them eat............LOL  Things children do

I guess thanks for sharing admin

Qsheeba, I had no "crew" either... let alone eat them.  Do people really eat squirrels in Uganda or was this just for TV? I find it hard to believe that a squirrel was caught at the last minute and got to the table out of no where... sounds too "made-for-tv".

I honestly  don`t think there is anything bizarre about the foods featured. Its bizzare from the perspective of the culture of the makers of the film who are clearly alien to the cultures they are depicting. Talk of bizzare foods......Worms from southern Africa, Dog and cat meat from SE Asia, shrimps, cocckrels, etc. I think you guys are under exposed.not to mention documented cases of canibalism in some African and other cultures

Anyways nice to see some of you lot are still alive and well.

I never tried grasshoppers till I reached Uganda.  And I love them, it taste like Lay's potato chips to me.  I can imagine myself eating them as popcorn in front of a movie or something.  And it's good for me.  Squirrels on the other hand, I've had a long experience with them. I grew up in Louisiana and with my family it was common to hunt and fish as some way to connect with nature and for my dad to get away from the job.  There is a daily limit in killing squirrels (8) and it is required to have a hunting license for that type of hunting.  We used shot guns as kids 13-17 years old.  Once you shot the thing out of the tree, you placed it in the back of your vest and continued.  You clean the squirrel like any other animal and pick out the shot so that while you are eating you don't bit down on metal.  We've cooked them in a frying pan with lots of seasoning and vegtables and then serve over rice. Squirrel Jambalaya. My dad has told me stories he was told during the Great Depression on the 1920s in the USA, that it was not unheard of people eating leather soup to get by. Eat something or starve was the menu of the day.

    Nsenene Express

The driver of this vehicle was recently intercepted by traffic policemen in Kampala. He was making a nsenene (grasshopper) delivery run into the city.

Bizarre Foods Ethiopia vs Bizarre Foods Uganda

Man... Uganda has been getting a bad name on YouTube because of the video above... This Andrew Zimmerman is really doin it... I guess thats what you get when the Africans/Ugandans themselves don't talk... someone else does it for them... then they complain that the media is misrepresenting them... well talk!...lol.

To ease up on Ugandans I have decided to see what people think of the Ethiopia clip...lol. Please watch and comment.  These white people are really doin it...lol.  But I don't blame them.... Its a show... Is it their responsibility to educate the world?

Hi Milar... sounds like you are using an outdated flash player. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrcfdYklTDg Thats the video... and if you can't render it, it will tell you what the problem is with your pc... it will tell you to download the latest flash player.

I only know because I just got a new laptop to work with today and it had the same issue...lol... I was shocked thinking I would have to recode all flash code but looks like its the computer that needs to be updated.... good luck! :)
