    Death in a blink

I was returning 2 my desk when I happened to glance outta window just as a dark blue saloon hit a woman crossing the road below my office. She was thrown spinning about 10m into the air and returned (still spinning) 2 the ground with a thud as I held my breath and head.  The saloon sped off.  From my judgement, the salon wasn't doing less than 80km/hr and since I didnt hear any tyre squels just before the impact, I doubt the driver saw his victim or if he did, made any effort to save her. Some passers-by picked up the lifeless body and laid it by the roadside. Right now, a crowd is gathered waiting 4 the police to come. RIP whoever it was.

There is another man just knocked down meters from where that other woman died. He is lying lifeless and the crowd is once again waiting for the Police to make an appearance. This time I didnt see the car. Was working on my pc when a collegue who happened to be looking outta window exclaimed "Ayyaaaa....!!" and then raised his hands to his head. The crowd has pronounced the victim dead.

These are the incidents I happen to witness when I am in the office (for about half the time, I am out in the field). I hear about many more that happen in my absence... RIP whoever that young man was.

Kaks that must be very hard for people in your office.  How can they focus on their job when ppl are being killed on a daily basis on that street.  What are the city planners doing about it?  How about law enforcement what are they doing to remedy the situation?  I know pedestrians do not have any rights in Kampala, but that is way too much.  Laws have to be enacted and enforce to save ppl's lives.
