Re: OBAMA = Is USA ready for the 1st Black President?

I deal with the issue of racism on a daily basis coming from the U.S.  So the question is, is the U.S. ready for the 1st Black President?  My personal view point on this is that it doesn't matter the race of the president, as long as he does his job to the best of his ability and improves the lives of the Americans.  A president should be there for his people and put their interest first.  Obama is very charismatic and seems through his talks to be able to do the job, can he do it, I don't know.  But then comes that nasty thing called "REALITY" where race does matter to the U.S. public to the degree that people still believe in stereotypes based on the color of the skin.  Both whites and blacks keep the racism alive in the U.S. because it is something to talk about, something to do, someone to hate, and someone to be of higher status than.  That is the reality.  When do you hear of the racism against whites?  I will tell you, in the states you don't.  When there is talks about racism against blacks, why are there not high officials in the government and society that are white talking about it on the media?  Because there is the status quo.  Birds of a feather flock together.  If you scratch my back I'll scratch yours.  As long as there is a continued need for racism in the U.S., social issues will never be solved.  And qualified people are held back from doing some real good.

I've heard on several occasions that Americans wouldn't vote for Obama just because of his name "Barack Hussein Obama" because of it's Arabic Nature.  One American made the comment "Because he is named Hussein, and I've had enough of them"  (My personal thoughts on this, what the hell does that mean, your not voting on someone because of his name and not based on his performance - Dumb ass you deserve not to vote) Another reason says that he is a Muslim. (Doesn't America have the freedom of Religion?  But hey if he is a Muslim, and there is a problem for America with him being a Muslim then may be Americans should start up the next great Crusade and try to purge the world of Muslims.  Forget about the past when Europe was living in the dark ages and only once they started trade with Muslims in the middle east did they get soap, spices, food preservation methods, etc. -Before it is asked I don't support the purging of Muslims, I believe that if you have your religion fine just don't try to push your religion on me, if I ask about it sure, but don't come to my house and say I must be ______ religion or die.)   Another reason states that he is a traitor in the war on terror (Wasn't it the U.S.s foreign policy blunders that created the war on terror to begin with.  Obama say that he would talk with Iran.  Ex Pres Jimmy Carter went and talked with Hamas, so should the U.S. revoke his presidency.  And one more reason stated that he used Ganja (President Bush said that he snorted Cocaine, President Clinton said he smoked Ganja but didn't inhale.  Please tell me that this man doesn't become president because he smoked ganja, that is the dumbest thing ever.  The first president of the U.S. George Washington had fields of ganja because it was a major cash crop.)

So will he become president, I don't know, I know that there needs to be major changes in the U.S. government and he talks a good talk.  But I think that ignorance is going to place McCain in to the captain's seat of America.

M_M - thanks for that.  Its always refreshing to hear different perspectives.  I sincerely hope that in his bid for the oval office he can reel unity amongst the democrats and nation alike as opposed to spending so much reality checks over race or gender headaches!

    Qs

Tribes are good but tribalism is bad
its good for others to know the roots the roots the roots
its also good for someone to be proud of those roots

There are several african americans who want to know the east african roots
I have referred some of my  african american friends to read UGPullse and Freefufu to get a feeling of life in africa.
I have heard that lack of information is misinformation

Has any one read  in the MONITOR Ugandan newspaper,
Professor Ali  Mazrui article on the African roots?

    www.monitor.co.ug/artman/publish/opinions/In_a_Nilotic_embrace_from_Obote_to_Obama_74490.shtml

i hope am well understood that am not intending at all to instigate tribalism

The civil wars in africa are caused by factors bigger than tribal identity, bigger than tribal affiliation...... its nepotism and the uncontroled greedy struggle for political and economic power, a legacy left behind unsolved by the colonial leaders and inherited by the third world's post independence regimes which are in turn supported by the modern NEO Colonial western countries that want AFRICA'S minerals for the WEST AND SO WILL KEEP AFRICA DIVIDED, POOR AND POLITICALLY UNSTABLE WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PROJECTING TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD THAT Africas biggest problem is tribalism!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Africa ethnic groupings Sukuma, Chagga, Ateso, Baganda, are labelled by the west as Tribes and the west says africa has tribalism, but the west with its tribes that became nations( e,g france, italy, germany, nowergians). its funny that these Nations or States in Europe may not be so called tribes, and do not have tribalism because they are of the 1st world.

this is called a judgement of morality of double standards........ and it should be unacceptable

I love politics and political science!
politics is the art of governance of society
    and that society
be it tribal, rural, industrialisd or agrarian, suburban or urban society

Obama's victory has calmed some of the worst racists around the world who have always used America to feed their ill will.

Unfortunately they vow they are making a come back!
