Fantastic Admin!!! Thanks for the article,  Indeed  "the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and GTV have unveiled an 8+ billion Uganda shillings package to fund the league" - Ramathan thank you so much for your continued coverage of this sector!  Indeed it went down a treat as that Friday 2nd November marked the first ever live coverage of Ugandan football on the TV! This is by all means the start of things to come to see domestic sport take centre stage.  I was so moved by this development and I truly hope its the way forward...

Great Uganda soccer is gonna be on live tv but before we start to celebrate there are few folks with GTV decoders so i don't think there will be a big change it's a step forward. But unless the Ugandan game is elevated to the international level and start competing in the African Champions league then watching URA, SC Villa, Police, KCC, Masaka LC, Maji will be appeasing to the eye!

Agreed Peregrine. However - the same reception could be said for the international or european sports which are shown in bars or meeting place in and around Ug.  Radio stations still have a great part to play and stil do on this, without a doubt, Ug football commentary is one heck of an entertainment and in a league of its own still I think.  They make you want to watch the sport even when you don't half understand it!!! The drive is to revive our homegrown sportsmen/women and this is a small step but no doubt a start...

As for the African Championships League - I'm not sure if you've been following these play-offs or not. The guys in EA try their damnest to play the game but its such a challenge when West African nations have made it their sole right to dominate how these championships come about.  This said, I do not lay the blame at their doorstep only, because regulations come from international FUFA which is playing politics in allowing this to continue so as to ensure only a handful of african countries make it to represent the continent on the international site.

So if you see me getting excited - its cause I want to keep it real with the homeboys/gals in that realm.

Guys, this deal is in danger of being nixed because Namboole chaps are demanding ebyaffe before they allow the matches to proceed.

Given we have only one international stadium,(doubt Nakivubo is up to scratch), keep your fingers crossed

Ahaaaaaaaa - see you be right about the closet thingie...I don't like the attitude or passion of most footie fans on/off the pitch.  They put me off going to watch live games since my teens when if it were not to witness scuffles of persons armed with axes, baseball bats or all sorts just in preparation to go watch a match, it was to see the footie fans pee all over our front gardens, shop corners - you name it, they lit up!  So this kinda put me off footie but I still like to watch and follow the game from the comfort of my armchair without having to worry about explaining maself to a surly fan of the opposing side...

Now RUGBY...hmm girlfriend it's too early in the evening to get ma heart racing!

Ehhh Sam - whats with ebyaffe?  Spill the beans.... are they demanding that some kinda of rituals prior to games or???  Perhaps this ought to be an incentive to use some of this money to build other stadiums and not concentrate so much on placing all things in one region....

I remember the old days i used to go to the KCC boma grounds at Lugogo to watch batani ba meeya train, amazingly there were discussion groups allover the place from about 5pm-7.30pm discussing football top on the agenda: Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and champions league, whenever it came to local soccer it was pointing figures agende, twagala gundi, oyo tasobola those days SC Villa had dominated the local football scene for years, but it barely made a mark on the international African Champions league.

Now it's a new era anyone can be GTV SS champs Police, URA, are competitors and the former giants SC Villa, Express and KCC are lost in space.

And I'll soar on wings like an EaGle

Soccer update: So far, things are looking up. We have increased attendance at Nakivubo and Namboole and the local league is getting more space in the media and TV. The Namboole guys sorted out their issues with FUFA and GTV and matches are going on as scheduled. Only issue arising is some teams which were given money for proper sports kits are wearing the old kits, i hope they didn't hit the kit money ndobo!
