    cocktails of a cannibalistic tendency...

Right fellow members! If you thought drinking tequilla and the only prospect was to swallow the worm at the bottom of the glass or bottle - think again.  Recently I've just discovered yet another interesting practice in the northern parts of north America. In Dawson City - (no, not Dawson's Creek the TV version series) there's a cocktail name "Sourtoe" - literary it is a toe, a human big toe to be precise and probably sour from the alcohol it is preserved in - I am not willing to taste. I guess this is really one way for men to prove their worth -  though I would worry in case the habit became ingrained and my fellar started eyeing my toes with relish....

SB - I've read about this, and was suprise to find that 4 toes have been swallowed by drunk people, and that another was chewed up.  They have a supply of toes from here and there that are sent to the pub in case such an instance happens.  When you drink the drink you have to let the toe touch the lips, ahhhhhh, I have a shutter at the thought.  How can your drink something with a toe in it?  These things are beyond me.  And then there are those that have a problem with me eating the grasshopper.  At least the grasshopper isn't in a shoe sweating for so many years.  Ahhhhh.  People do have strange likes.  And I've said that I would almost try anything, this is one that I would have to take their word for, because a toe is going no where near my mouth

M_M - had you mentioned grasshopers last week I'd have been sooooo mad at you for reminding me one of the things I most miss from Ug!  But alas - we had a delivery over here and that's kept me well and trully happy to last me for some time till I can save up to go visit Uganda.  I've not even mentioned my stash to any of my relatives until now and I hope they are too busy to read this post...

Now to mention grasshoppers (nsenene) in the same breath as big toe - thats taboo!  BTW M_M there's a saying in one of the tribes' of Uganda that loosely translates - "a drunkard doesn't prepare dog for a feast or eat dog" (omutamivu tabaaga mbwa).  So I'm still riding on the theory that these guys have a thing on cannibalism...
